Using satellite imaging, I look for repetitious houses in somewhat rural locations to locate planned urban developments. From above, they are complicated, irregular network of roads and houses resembling a labyrinth. I drive to these locations and I look at the buildings and how they're constructed in a simplistic way, and I start with the very first house or the very last one on the street. Through this photographic investigation I single out these houses as blank slates. My photographs reveal the generic and featureless characteristics of these structures while at the same time, their monolithic and hypnotic qualities. This flux is caused by the generic design and materials from which they are made coupled with their symbolism of American prosperity through ownership. These photographs as objects show both the structure and allurement of "home," fulfilling our tendencies toward domicile.
